| Crematory means that the Crematory is present on the property or building of the Funeral Home or Crematory. Cremation and Cremation Services usually are the opposite meaning that they offer Cremation Service, however its done by a 3rd-Party at a another location that may or may not be in the same city, county or state. It's always best to ask if they have their own Crematory or use a 3rd-party. |

| Yes, Berry Funeral Home does have their own Crematory. In fact we are the only Crematory in Elbert County and have became the preferred Crematory in the Northeast Georgia area. |

| It is in our Funeral Home at 1 Berry Lane, Elberton, Georgia and yes, you are welcome to come see it. |

| No, there are no membership fees like those referenced places and you don't have to be a member of any group or organization to use Berry Funeral Home & Crematory to save and get the low-cost cremation services that we offer everyone and have become known for. |

| What is involved in cremation? |
| The casket or container is placed in the cremation chamber where the temperature reaches 1,400-1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. After approximately 2.5 hours, all organic material is consumed by heat and evaporation, and the bone fragments are left behind. These are known as the cremated remains, which are then carefully removed from the chamber and processed into fine particles to be placed in a container or urn for the family. |

| How can you assure me that you cremate responsibly? |
| We cremate only 1 person at a time in our own crematory as required by law. We have a triple check safety measure system in place to identify each loved one. |

| How much time does it take to complete a cremation process? |
| Because we own and operate our own crematory, we serve you more quickly - usually within 2 business days of your authorization and the County's issuance of a permit. |

| Do I need a casket if I choose cremation? |
| No. However for sanitary reasons, many crematories require a combustible, leak-proof, covered container. |

| Can I have a visitation period and a funeral service if cremation is chosen? |
| Absolutely. Many families choose a traditional service before a cremation. |

| What can be done with the cremated remains? |
| Cremation opens the door to a whole different level to what can be done with the cremains. The cremated remains can be interred in a cemetery plot or retained by a family member, friends or several family and friends -- usually in an urn or keepsake, scattered on private property or at a place that was important to the deceased, mixed with paint for a one of a kind painting, be used in hand blown glass figurines, even reloaded in shells and ammunition for the sportsmen. The ideas are endless. |
