Margaret Lucille Edwards Wells, 88, resident of 64 Oak Street, Elberton, GA and 2312 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, widow of Paul N. Wells died Friday, March 16, 2018 at her Greenwood home.

Born in Greenwood County, June 26, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Lester Brown and Nannie Hinton Edwards. She was a 1945 graduate of Greenwood High School. In 1949 she received her BA from Lander College and her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University, formerly Peabody College.

Mrs. Wells taught 5th and 6th grade science in Calhoun Falls, later at Stilwell Elementary School and Elbert County High School where she was a media specialist. She retired in 2014 after 52 years of service in education.

She was a life member of Cedar Springs ARP Church in Bradley where she was her happiest doing as many chores as she could possibly do for the church to include the lawn care of the entire church and cemetery properties. An avid Carolina Gamecocks fan and a devoted volunteer at the Greenwood Soup Kitchen.

Surviving are a daughter, Kaye Wells Christian and husband Rod, of Elberton, GA. She was predeceased by a sisters, Grace Elizabeth Edwards, Myrtle and Frances Edwards; brothers, Charlie Edwards and Gilbert Edwards. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2PM Monday at Cedar Springs ARP Church in Bradley with Dr. Loyd Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood and will be placed in the church at 1PM Monday.

The family is at the home of her daughter Kaye and Rod Christian, 1957 Indian Springs Road, Elberton, GA. and will receive friends at the church from 1PM until 2PM Monday.
