Alice Ruth Collins Papendick

Ms. Alice ‘Ruth’ Collins LaMedica Papendick, 78, of Elberton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Elbert Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Ms. Papendick was born in Bowman on July 31, 1936, to the late Tom W. Collins and Mildred Dickerson Collins. She was a retired seamstress having worked at Elberton Manufacturing Company and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Blackwell Elementary School for many years. Left to cherish her memories are her children: Gina LaMedica Duck Mincey, Rene McCollum and her husband Lee, and Thomas LaMedica, all of Elberton; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael LaMedica; children: Allen Farris and Pamela Duck; and brother, Dan Collins. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 4, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00p.m. until the time for service on Sunday afternoon. Flowers are optional; contributions may be made in her memory to Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2335 Nickville Road, Dewy Rose, Georgia 30634.
