Alvin Scott, 73, of Statham, formerly of Elberton, died December 7, 2019.

He was born September 23, 1946 in Elberton to Thomas Orr Scott and Grace Mae Dunn Scott. He served in the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Mr. Scott retired from Veteran’s Administration. He was a long-time member of Rutledge Baptist Church. He was also a devoted UGA football fan. He loved his family and playing golf with friends. Mr. Scott was also a member of the Dewald Masonic Lodge.

Alvin Scott is survived by a daughter, Tabitha Barrow & Ricky and grandchildren, William, Thomas, Owen, Noah, Odiella, Kathleen and Brantley, and was expecting his eighth grandchild soon. He also leaves two siblings, Danny Scott & Robin and Alice Adams. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Calvin Scott & Triston, just one day before his passing. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Robert, Lizzie Mae, Josephine and Thomas, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9 from 6-8 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM at Rutledge Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 10. The graveside service will take place on Tuesday at 3:30 PM at Woodlawn Methodist Church Cemetery in Elberton.

A.E. Carter Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.
