Andy Cornell

Mr. Horace Andrew “Andy” Cornell, 67, of Fork Creek Circle, Bowman, husband of 10 years to Juanita Wells Cornell, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cornell was born in Elbert County on August 30, 1949, son of the late Horace Gerald and Sara Thornton Cornell. A 1967 graduate of Elbert County High School, Andy worked alongside his father at Cornell Dairy Farm until its closing. After that, he worked at Elbert County Public Works and retired in 2014 from Elbert County Detention Center as Jail Administrator. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and a former member of the Jaycees. Andy loved watching football and racing.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Juanita Wells Cornell of the home; children: Mark Cornell of Summerville, SC and Tia Cornell and her wife Heather Edwards of Greenville, SC, and Solaria Wells of Augusta; sister, Kathy Seymour and her husband Ronald of Bowman; two grandchildren: Gavin and Landon Cornell; sister-in-law, Wanda Allen and her husband Thomas of Elberton; brother-in-law, James Wells of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews; Jackie Harris and her husband Andy, Jenny Dickerson and her husband Jason, Ron Seymour and his wife Megan, Julie Wade and her husband Tyler, Keisha Heard and Maurice Maxwell, Antonio Wells, and Jessica Wells; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, September 28, at 2 o’clock in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. John Strong officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.
