Angela Cecile Ambrosini Fleischer

Mrs. Angela Cecile Ambrosini Fleischer, 83, of Elberton, wife of the late Melvyn Sidney "Mel" Fleischer, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Angela was born in Elberton on March 30, 1937, daughter of the late Dante Rino Ambrosini and Frances Elizabeth Blum Ambrosini. She was a 1955 graduate of Elberton High School and received her Bachelor’s of Business from Florida State University, where she met her husband of 52 years, the late Melvyn Sidney Fleischer. Mrs. Fleischer furthered her education at the University of Georgia where she obtained both Masters and Specialists Degrees in Education.

Mrs. Fleischer taught school at Elbert County High School for 32 years. She was actively involved in the Business/Vocational department where she was the advisor for both the Future Business Leaders of America and the work based learning program. Angela’s dedication to the education of Elberton’s youth will continue to impact lives.

She began playing music at the age of 12 and played for 68 years when she retired at the age of 80 as the organ player at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Angela was previously a member and organ player at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. At First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Covenant Weekly Bible Study. Mrs. Fleischer opened her home and taught piano lessons for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramic painting and especially painting china. Angela was an avid UGA fan, and enjoyed tailgating and attending sporting events with Mel and her sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Stanley. She could often be found playing or spectating a game of golf. Mrs. Fleischer was a longtime member of the Elberton County Club and, with her dear friend the late Joan Slocumbe, was instrumental in the former Women’s Golf Association.

Angela is survived by her son, Greg Fleischer and his wife Leanne of Apopka, FL; grandson, Nick Fleischer and his wife Jessica of Elberton; great-grandchildren: Shiloh Fleischer and Rob Fleischer; sister, Rena Ambrosini Ashworth and her husband Stanley of Ellijay; nieces: Angela and Ron Renner and Fran and Chris Whelan; and great-nieces and nephews: Rachel Renner, Kyle Renner, Jenna Grace Whelan, and Thomas Whelan.
