Mrs. Aurie Belle Dickerson Beggs, age 101, of Lexington Highway, Elberton, passed away Friday morning, May 25, 2012, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center. Mrs. Beggs was born in Elbert County, March 14, 1911, a daughter of the late John Robert Martin Dickerson and Lavonia Maxwell "Vonnie" Dickerson. She was a homemaker and a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the True Blue Sunday School Class. On December 8, 1929, she married Robert E. Beggs, Jr, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1974. She is also preceded in death by son, Henry M. Beggs; grandson, Scottie M. Beggs; granddaughter, Georgia Maddux Pugh; great-grandson, Cody M. Beggs; sons-in-law, Jesse Maddux, Hoyt Hammond, and George McBrayer; brothers, Bodie Dickerson and Edwin Dickerson; and sisters, Magna Dickerson, Ruth Dickerson, Laura D. Helton, and Mary D. Graham. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Daisey B. Maddux, Martha B. Hammond, Patricia B. McBrayer, Jean B. and Kent Jewell, and Susan B. and Marshall Suttles; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Mary Ann Beggs, and David and Deanna Beggs; daughter-in-law, Janice and Hugh Dickerson; 34 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beggs requested her special friends at Nancy Hart Nursing Center, Winona Palmer and Mae Belle Cryder, be acknowledged. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 3PM Sunday, May 27, in the Falling Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The Beggs family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM Saturday evening and again from 2-3PM Sunday at the church. Expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, may be donations in her honor to Gideons International, PO Box 6211, Elberton, Georgia 30635 or to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 1020 Jack McVeigh Drive, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
