Barbara Ruff Barger, 79, of 1895 Lexington Highway, Elberton, wife of Charles V. Barger, died Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 2011, at the Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Barger was born in Elbert County, May 19, 1932, daughter of the late Martin C. and Victorine Jones Ruff. She was a retired bus driver for the Elbert County School System and a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Charles V. Barger; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Brenda Barger, all of Elberton; grandchildren, Luke and Brandi Barger, Holly Barger, and Hannah Barger; three great-grandchildren, Haleigh Barger, Hunter Barger, and Za Barger; two sisters, Theresa R. Albertson and Peggy R. Greenway, both of Elberton; and two brothers, Albert Maurice Ruff and James Wyatt Ruff, both of Elberton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Mrs. Barger is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Ruff and Wallace Ruff; and one sister, Elizabeth R. Fortson. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 3PM Saturday, June 18, in the Falling Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Dwight Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest HIlls Memorial Park. The family is at the residence, 1895 Lexington Highway, Elberton, and will receive friends from 1-3PM Saturday, at the church. Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made in her honor to the Falling Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers will include Dennis Greenway, Maurice Ruff, Kenneth Fortson, Randy Ruff, Randall Ruff, Jeff Ruff and Ricky Miller. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.berryfh.com.
