Barbara Sheriff Prince

Mrs. Barbara Jean Sheriff Prince, 83, of Hickory Drive, Elberton, wife of 52 years to the late Larry Wesley Prince, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at her daughter’s residence in Athens.

Mrs. Prince was born in Lavonia on February 23, 1936, daughter of the late Matthew Purcell Sheriff and Rosa Mae Smith Sheriff. She was the owner/operator of The Granite City Restaurant, and along with her husband, owned Prince Wholesale. Mrs. Prince was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and attended Believers Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and gardening.

Survivors include her children: Shawna Bradford of Athens, Sherry Prince of Elberton, and Rick and Michele Prince of Elberton; grandchildren: Shaun Joseph Fortson and his wife Rachel Dotson Fortson, Breana Rose Bradford, and Sydney Lauren Prince; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Helen Chitwood, Louise Hudson, J.D. Sheriff, I.J. Sheriff, and Margie Lee Roling.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, at 2 o’clock at Believers Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Monday, January 27.

Mrs. Prince will be placed in the church at 1 o'clock on Tuesday.
