Mrs. Bettie Mills Albertson, 83, of Lincolnton Highway, Elberton, wife of the late F.H. Albertson, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Athens Regional Medical Center while under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. Mrs. Albertson was born in Elbert County on September 29, 1930, to the late William Rucker Mills and Lois Rice Mills. She was a retired lunchroom lady at Falling Creek Elementary School and was a member of Bethel E Baptist Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union. Later in life, Bettie returned to school and received her diploma from Elbert County Comprehensive High School in 1989. Mrs. Albertson was also very active in the Ladies Auxiliary at Elbert Memorial Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Paul H. Albertson of Elberton; daughter, Robin Garrison and her husband Ronald of Irmo, SC; son-in-law, Bobby Kerns of Taylors, SC; five grandchildren: Ryan Albertson and his wife Kristen, Joy A. Clark and her husband Billy, Travis Kerns and his wife Staci, Dusty Garrison, and A.J. Garrison; three great-grandchildren: Emma Albertson, Nate Albertson, and Jeremiah Kerns; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Donna A. Kerns; daughter-in-law, Janis H. Albertson; and siblings: W.R. Mills, Grady Mills, Eunice Hughes, Reba Higginbotham, and Jewell Madden. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 2:00p.m. in the Bethel E Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Gene Lunceford, Wesley Moss, Cody Moss, Rick Mewborn, Ryan Albertson, Dusty Garrison, A.J. Garrison, and Travis Kerns honored as pallbearers. The Elbert Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary are asked to serve as honorary escort. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Bethel E Baptist Church from 12:00-1:45p.m. on Thursday. Flowers are optional; contributions may be made in her memory to Bethel E Baptist Church, 2576 Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
