Ms. Betty Jo Gilbert Deas, 80, of Martin Villa Road, Elberton, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at her residence.

Ms. Deas was born in Elbert County on August 27, 1938, daughter of the late Fletcher Gilbert and Grace Cleveland Alexander Jones and step daughter of the late James Cecil Jones. She worked as a cashier most of her life and retired from the Elbert County Detention Center. “Grandma Betty”, as she was known to her family, enjoyed reading, embroidery, and was proud of her doll collection.

Survivors include her children: Judy Catherine Robinson of Elberton, Tammy Deas Pless and her husband Shane of Elberton, and Jennifer Grace Deas of Martinez; sister, Stella Sue Gunn of Martinez; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Danzell Harmon, Jr.

The family is at their respective residences and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018.

Private memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating.

Flowers are optional; contributions may be made in her memory to Kindred Hospice.
