Mr. Candler Johnson Jordan, 86, of Athens Highway, Elberton, husband of 59 years to the late Patsy Burney Jordan, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Jordan was born in Royston on May 7, 1928, to the late George Herman Jordan and Mary Frances Leard Jordan. He was retired from Harmony Blue Granite Company and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Elbert County Blue Devils fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Left to cherish his memories are his children and their spouses: Diane Jordan, Sandra and Veal Duncan, all of Elberton, Greg Jordan of Elberton, and Jeff and Julie Jordan of Greenwood, SC; sisters: Malvine Bennett of Bowman, Shelby Scarborough of Elberton, and Nancy Ann Hart of Bowman; grandchildren: Karrie Martin, Scott Bryant, Shane Hazelrig, Kevin Duncan, April Stone, LeAnne King, Kayce Johnson, Abby Jordan, Jackson Jordan, and Kristen Haigh; great-grandchildren: Kayla & Tyler Martin, Grady, Grace, & Graham Bryant, Dylan Ryoul, Kaylee & Kinsley Duncan, Duncan & Candler Stone, and Baylor King; special nephew, Charles Porterfield; special niece, Stephanie Brown and her children, Clint and Whitney; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Carlton, Claude L.J., and George Jordan. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, November 20, at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the residence on Athens Highway and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00p.m. until the service hour on Thursday afternoon.
