Carl Lewis Moon

Mr. Carl Lewis Moon, 80, of Elberton, husband of 58 years to Linda Lee Savinsky Moon, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Moon, born in Elbert County, was a son of the late Joseph Aubra Moon and Ruby Thelma Yeargin Moon. He was of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Nancy Hart High School. He retired from Winn-Dixie Supermarkets after many years of service as a store manager in the Atlanta region. He was a hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humor who enjoyed camping, old cars, and spending time in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons: Carl Joseph Moon and wife Leslie of Bowman and Wesley Lewis Moon and wife Julie of Elberton; grandchildren: Joshua Thomas Buffone and Lynzee Summer Smith and husband Zachariah, III; great-grandchildren: Carson Lee Massey and Zariah Wynter Smith; siblings: Barbra Jean Moon and Paul Gabriel of Talking Rock and Raymond and Sara Moon of Elberton; sister-cousins: Sue Vickery and Joyce Mills, both of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: J.C. Moon, Horace Moon, Christine Brock, Juanita Osborne, and infant sister Roberta Moon.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday morning, August 3, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Douglas Huff and Thomas Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening, August 2, between the hours of 6 o’clock and 8 o’clock at Berry Funeral Home.
