Mrs. Cathryn Marie Cleveland Allgood, 86, of Sweet City Road, Elberton, wife of the late James Elbert Allgood, entered into rest on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at her daughter's home while under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Mrs. Allgood was born in Elbert County on September 14, 1927, to the late Grady and Marie Fortson Cleveland. She was a member of Doves Creek Baptist Church where she was active in the JOY club and the John Vernon Sunday School Class. A devoted homemaker, Cathryn thoroughly enjoyed gardening and baking for her family and friends as well as playing Bingo at Wendy's. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are her children and their spouses: Peggy and Jerry Yeargin of Elberton and Tommy and Barbara Allgood of Adel, Georgia; grandchildren: Lori Y. Daniel, Gregory Yeargin, Jeffrey Yeargin, Tammie A. Bobo, Todd Allgood, and Thomas Allgood; great-grandchildren: Amanda Daniel, Kelli Daniel, Alexis Yeargin, Addyson Yeargin, Brandon Bobo, Aiden Allgood, and Thomas Grady Allgood, III; special niece, Elaine Cleveland and her husband Tom of Elberton; sisters-in-law, Bessie Mae Cleveland of Elberton, Nancy Burton of Hephzibah, and Lucy Worley Richards of Thomson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Allgood; and siblings: James Marion Cleveland, Lena George Cleveland Tiller, Thomas Grady Cleveland, and Sidney Mailey Cleveland. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, at 3:00p.m. in the Doves Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Huff, Ed Sayer, and Chaplain Benson Bottoms officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at home in the Sweet City Community and will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. The body is at the Berry Funeral Home pending the service and will be placed in the church at 2:00p.m. to lie instate until the service hour on Tuesday.
