Charles Michael Hix

Mr. Charles Michael Hix, Sr., 56, of Holly Creek Church Road, Comer, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at his home. Mr. Hix was born in Athens on November 17, 1957, to Jo Chambers Hix and the late William "Billy" Hix, Jr. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Comer. After graduation in 1975, he went to work for Georgia Power Corporation where he worked as a lineman for eleven years and in the Meter Department for nine years before retiring with twenty years of service. Following retirement, Mr. Hix built and operated Paoli Junction and Car Wash in Comer until 2005. Above all, his family was his passion. He was a genuine and loving father and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Left to cherish his memories are a son, Charles Michael Hix, Jr. of Comer; mother, Jo Chambers Hix of Comer; brother and sister-in-law, William R. and Coni Hix of Comer; nieces and nephews, Heath Hix, Matt Hix, Josh Hix, Brad Osborne, Ashley Osborne, Ava Osborne, and Brandi Osborne. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 11:00a.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ronnie Moon, Reverend Lynn Kellum and Mike Patton officiating. Light refreshments will be served during visitation immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Penfield Christian Home, 1061 Mercer Circle, Union Point, Georgia 30669.
