Christopher Dwight Hancock

Mr. Christopher Dwight Hancock, 40, of Winterville, finished his course in faith on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Elbert Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Chris was born in Athens on October 7, 1977, son of Barbara Ann Bailey Griggs and the late Homer Dwight Hancock. He attended Elbert County Comprehensive High School and was an etching artist in the granite industry. Chris was a music lover and could play any instrument he put his mind to. Even throughout his trials, he kept his kind spirit and remained the well-mannered and polite young man he always was.

Survivors include his parents: Barbara and Richard Griggs; step-sister, Kerri and Adam Dowell; niece and nephew: Drake Dowell and Reece Dowell; and very special friend, Erin Guest.

He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Phillip Warren Hancock; and grandparents: A.L. and Helen Bailey and Homer and Sue Hancock.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, August 8, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Butler officiating. Entombment will follow in Athens Memory Gardens.

The family is at the residence of Barbara and Richard Griggs, 1720 Pine Needle Lane, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.
