Clint Bowen

James Clinton "Clint" Bowen, age 47, of Palm Bay, Florida, formerly of Elberton, passed away on August 4, 2017, after suffering a stroke in January. He fought a long and strong battle overcoming many obstacles, but God had a better plan for him.

He was born on May 22, 1970, to James Wilson "Jimmy" Bowen and Eileen Flowers Bowen, who survive him. Clint graduated from Elbert County High School in 1988 and was member of the Elbert County Blue Devils Football Team as a Center. He remained friends with many of his former classmates.

As his wife Sarah wrote, “You can now rest in peace my beautiful strong husband, love of my life, best friend, father of my children; no one will ever love me like you did, goodbye soul mate and until we meet again, I love you forever!” He is also survived by his three beautiful daughters: Alex (8), Hadley (5), and Penelope (3).

Clint spent most of his career in the U.S. Navy on the Submarines the USS Stonewall Jackson, decommissioned on February 9, 1995, and the USS Florida, having joined shortly after high school. He had the opportunity to see the world. It was on a temporary duty assignment in Florida where he met Sarah and his life changed forever. His life was filled with an abundance of love, joy and laughter as he dedicated his time and energy to his loving family. He touched the hearts of many along his life’s journey. We were all so very blessed having been a part of his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and daughters of Palm Bay and parents of Elberton, he is survived by his siblings: Mona Bowen Lunsford, her husband Jarred and their two children and grandchildren, Hannah and C. J. Brown, Rielyn and Colton Brown and Mary Grace Lunsford, all of Elberton/Dewy Rose; Paul Bowen and his wife Beverly and their two children Wyatt and Anna Jo of Seneca, South Carolina; and Robin Warren and her husband Aaron of Bowman. Other survivors are aunts and uncles:Joan Mauldin, Karen Phillips, Roger Bowen, Andy Bowen, and Mark Bowen, their spouses, children and grandchildren; Sarah’s mother, Linda Witkowski Mallon of Florida and Sarah’s sisters: Jessica Mallon Fullhart of Florida and Heather Mallon of Pennsylvania; and Jessica’s children, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Clint was predeceased by his grandparents: James and Mary Jo Bowen of Bowman, Frank R. "Bud" Flowers, Jr. of Elberton and Ramona Gulley of Elberton; two uncles: Frank R. "Robby" Flowers, III of Elberton and Phillip Curtis Flowers of Tucson, Arizona; and Sarah’s father, Tom Mallon.

On Sunday, September 3, 2017, a memorial service to honor Clint's love for his family, devotion to his country, and dedication to his friends will be held at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Deep Creek Baptist Church in Dewy Rose.

Those desiring may make contributions to T.J. and Friends Foundation Inc. or The Cancer Foundation in honor of Mona, Clint’s sister and Tom, Sarah’s Father who passed away one year ago from cancer.

In helping with keeping Clint's memory alive, the family graciously request those willing to share their favorite memories and photos of Clint do so to be placed in a memory book for his daughters. A basket will be available at the service for you to drop those in, or, you may e-mail them to Clint's aunt at krnphllps4@gmail.com.

The family wishes to thank the entire communities of Palm Bay/Melbourne, Florida and Elberton, Georgia, prayer warriors and those who have helped in so many, many ways. Our hearts are overflowing with joy for your love and kindness.
