Clyde Thomas Adams

Mr. Clyde Thomas Adams, 93, of Double Bridges Road, Elberton, husband of over 60 years to the late Jean Overstreet Adams, finished his course in faith on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Adams was born in Elbert County on March 6, 1925, son of the late Howell Parker Adams and Mary Hope Gaines Adams. He was an active member of Coldwater United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities as long as his health allowed. Clyde was a founding member of the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation and worked diligently to ensure the foundation was successful. Mr. Adams was the first ever insurance agent hired by Georgia Farm Bureau and worked faithfully in this position until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Elberton Kiwanis Club and the Sons of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Benny Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the following ladies for the professional care that has been given to Clyde which subsequently allowed him to remain at home on the family farm: Bessie Wilson, Betty Jones, Arizona Thornton, Barbara Rucker, and Willie Sykes.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, and siblings: Alvin Wesley Adams, Hubert Teasley Adams, Howell Gaines Adams, Georgia Medora Adams, Charles Thurmond Adams, Jannie Sue Adams Brown, James Edgar Adams, and Wade Neal Adams.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 2 o’clock from the Coldwater United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Moon and the Rev. Ann Mann officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Adams will lie in state in the church beginning at 12:30p.m. on Tuesday where the family will greet friends beginning at 1 o’clock.
