Curt Coggins

Mr. Curtis Alan “Curt” Coggins, 56, of Heard Drive, Elberton, husband of 14 years of Kathy Ruff Coggins, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Coggins was born on November 7, 1960 in Newport, Rhode Island, son of Jacqueline Thompson Coggins and the late Rev. William Knox Coggins, Jr. He was a salesman having worked in the granite industry and was a member of Fork Creek Baptist Church. Curt was an avid fisherman.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kathy; daughters: Wendy Collier and her husband Josh of Elberton and Jaime Coggins of Greensboro, NC; stepchildren: Dustin Rice of Elberton and Kristal Rice of Athens; mother, Jackie Thompson Coggins of Elberton; sisters: Cindy Coggins of Hendersonville, NC and Lisa Haynes and her husband Jeff of Elberton; grandchildren: Riley Grace Collier, Bentley Dean Collier, and William Abel Rice; father-in-law, Bo Ruff of Elberton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Helen Thompson and William Knox, Sr. and Madge Coggins.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 11:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016. Private burial will be in Fork Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of Jeff and Lisa Haynes, Heard Drive, Elberton.
