Davie Joe Floyd

Mr. Davie Joe Floyd, 72, of Eddleman Drive NW, Dewy Rose, husband of 51 years to Sylvia Jean Hart Floyd, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 17, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Davie Joe was born in Abbeville, SC on November 9, 1949, but lived his entire life in Dewy Rose. The only son of the late Dewitt Talmadge Floyd and Lou Alice Drake Floyd, he was a lifelong member of Liberty Congregational Church and worked as a top polisher in the granite industry, mainly at Central Granite Company and Star Granite Company. A jack of all trades, Davie Joe was happiest while restoring old cars, outside searching for and digging up old bottles, or attempting to build-from-scratch the ultimate lawnmower. Like his Daddy before him, he could often be found enjoying the simple pleasures in life such as cutting grass - daily! Davie Joe will be remembered for growing his hair out and donating to Locks of Love for many, many years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Sylvia, include his children: Paul Floyd of Athens and Kelly Harper of Dewy Rose; siblings: Demechia Crocker and Deana Bailey, both of Dewy Rose; grandchildren: John Harper and Clara Alice Harper; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating Davie Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, at 11 o’clock at Liberty Congregational Church with Mr. Keith Floyd officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Monday, June 20, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Liberty Congregational Church, 2291 Liberty Church Road, Dewy Rose, GA 30634.

The family encourages those attending to drive their classic cars.
