Diane Drake Plont

Mrs. Laura 'Diane' Drake Plont, 52, of Rayle, wife of the late John Plont, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Wills Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 21, 1967, in Elberton Georgia, the daughter of Clark Drake and Lizzie Mae Scott. She was the youngest of five, two brothers and two sisters. She married the love of her life John Plont on October 4, 1986, and they were blessed with two children: Julie Ann Hope Plont and William Ray Plont. They celebrated 32 years of marriage before John passed in February 2018.

Diane enjoyed working with people, her longtime career was working as a manager at Bojangles and Golden Pantry in Elberton. Health concerns caused her to leave work and end her career. When she was not working she enjoyed word search puzzles and swimming. Diane loved spending time with her kids, when her kids were younger she enjoyed taking them to the lake and letting them swim.

Back in the day when Diane was not working you could find her watching Days of Our Lives or WWE. She also kept up with the Georgia Bulldawgs Football games. She loved watching the game. One of her most recent favorite TV Shows was NCIS. John and Diane would watch every episode.

To sum Diane up in a few words: loving, respected, sassy, and feared by some.

She never got over the death of her beloved husband John Plont. She was a loving wife, mom, and friend who will be dearly missed. All who knew her loved him.

Diane Plont is survived by: children: Julie Plont and Ray (Spouse Ashley) Plont; granddaughter, Arya Plont; brother, James Drake, David (Spouse Margie) Drake; and sisters: Jane (Spouse Don) Moore, and Joann Pierce. Diane is preceded in death by father, Clark Drake; mother, Lizzie Mae Scott; and husband, John Plont.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 11AM, Saturday August 24 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
