Doris Pauline Adams Baker

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, after 91 years of blessed life, Doris Pauline Adams Baker left her loved ones on this earth, to dwell with her Lord and her many many family members and friends, who have already completed that journey.

Doris always said she lived a fairytale life. Raised in Fulton County by loving Christian parents, Frank Lawrence Adams and Willie Pauline (Adams) Adams, she and her only sibling, James V. Adams (deceased), never realized they grew up during the Great Depression years. Home life was so special that they thought they were rich.

School life was a world of wonder for Doris. In her memories, she often walked the halls of Fulton County High School, populated by her multitude of friends and teachers. She was an outstanding Allstate basketball player and graduated with top academic honors. Doris attended UGA to become a teacher and taught for 30 years. She loved teaching and loved every student she was privileged to have in her classroom.

Doris and George Cecil Baker were married for 66 incredible and happy years. Their first memories of each other were in the cradle class at church. The marriage expanded to two children, Ben and Polly, whom she loved very much.

Doris leaves behind her children: Polly and Wayne Ward and Ben and Suann Baker, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Josh and Lisa Harper (Catarina and Jed Harper), Will Ward (Caitlyn and Savannah Ward), Irvin and Sarah Navarro (Noah Navarro), Mark and Katy Adams (Devon, Lawson, Landon, Isabella Adams), and Jake and Donna Baker (Reagan and Brody Baker).

At Mrs. Baker’s request, the family will host a private memorial service at a later date. She will be laid to rest with Cecil at the Coldwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
