Dorothy Allen "Coot" Isom

On September 28, 2021, Dorothy Allen Isom answered the Master’s call to rest, with her mother, father, sisters, brothers, daughter, and grandchildren awaiting her arrival.

Dorothy to some and “Coot” to many was born on January 12, 1947, in Elberton, GA to the late Walter and Mamie Tate Allen. Dorothy was the youngest of eight children, and was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Dorothy loved the Lord and joined Cades Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. She loved to sing and was in several gospel groups. She was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was loving, kind, and always smiling. Her love for others was known by the smile on her face.

Coot was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Henry “Boy Duke” Isom; her daughter, Stella Allen; her siblings: Lois Glaze, Azalee Bradford, Willie Gene Allen, Maylena Allen, Frazier Allen, Roger Allen, and Raymond Allen; grandson, Raiquan Yearby; and great-grandchildren: Lavi Winn and Loe Winn.

As Dorothy Allen Isom flies among God’s Angels, her memories are cherished and will be shared by her children: Mary Allen, Danny (Edna) Allen, Peggy R. Allen of Elberton, GA, and Kim (Ray) Yearby of Dayton, OH; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Joanne Isom of Raleigh, NC, and Dorothy Allen Murray of Elberton, GA; god daughter, Diane Hill of Elberton, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, October 1, at 2 o’clock at Cades Chapel Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.
