Emma Jean Thornton Jones

Mrs. Emma Jean Thornton Jones, 92, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Tignall House.

Mrs. Jones was born May 16, 1929 in Washington, GA to Thomas Phillip Thornton and Nina Virginia Walker Thornton. She was a retired transportation specialist at Fort Gordon U.S. Army Base.

She is survived by her children: Robert Jones of Tignall, GA, Joyce J. Bramblett of Carlton, GA; sister: Marilyn Newsome of Washington, GA, one grandson: Griffith Newberry and two great-granddaughters: Madison and Myla.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son: Glenn Ralph Jones and siblings: JoAnn Hart, Becky Thomasson, Robert Thornton and Jimmy Thornton.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
