Eugenia Jones Busby

Mrs. Fenora Eugenia “MeMaw” Jones Busby, 98, of Tusten Street, Elberton, GA passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.

Mrs. Busby was born October 2, 1922, in Elberton, GA to Jackson Clyde Jones and Ruby Sophie Eugenia Fortson Jones. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton, Friendship Sunday School Class, garden and bridge club and had volunteered at Blackwell Elementary School. She was an avid University of Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves fan. When her children were growing up she would never miss a game or event and even got to attend several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and events.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Becky and Tony Roberts of Elberton, GA, Judy Blackmon of Elberton, GA, and Brenda Hatcher of Tallahassee, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Linda Busby of Elberton, GA; sister-in-law, Carolyn Busby of Sparta, TN; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lee Busby; sons-in-law: Billy Hatcher and Larry Blackmon; her parents-in-law, J.P. and Clara Busby; brother-in-law, Robert Busby; and brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Mary Lou West.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Forest Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Adams officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and due to Covid-19 there will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family will greet family and friends graveside after the service. Social distancing is encouraged.

Pallbearers will be Chad Blackmon, Luke Howe, Chip Knowles, Brett Howe, Bryce Howe, Lincoln Blackmon and Todd Jarvis. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Ridgway and Drew Ridgway.

Flowers are optional and memorials can be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Elberton Ramp Ministry, 132 Heard St. Elberton, GA 30635.
