Mrs. Evelyn Witcher Looney, 87, of Hickory Drive, Elberton, wife of the late C. Wilson Looney, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Looney was born in Vanna on July 3, 1926, to the late Brantley S. and Georgia Ann Barton Witcher. She was a retired Office Manager at Brown Transport and was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Don Looney and his wife Ann of Elberton; grandchildren, Natalie Dixon and her husband Stan and Jason Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Missouri McCannon, Jake McCannon, Evelyn "Bree" Dixon, Cole Dixon, and Julia Kate Dixon; and several nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Thomas Witcher, Inez Seymour, Estelle Carter, Talmadge Witcher, and John Witcher. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 18, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. William Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the residence of Don and Ann Looney, 1800 Chipshot Lane, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00a.m. on Friday morning.
