Frank Stockton Harper

Mr. Frank Stockton Harper, 93, of Ruckersville Road, Elberton, husband of 67 years to the late Kathleen Higginbotham Harper, finished his course in faith on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Harper was born in Elberton on June 18, 1926, son of the late Linton Augustus Harper and Emma Etta Jones Harper. Frank started working for Elberton Furniture Company in the 1950s as a salesman and ultimately retired as owner after many, many years of faithful service to Elberton. He was a member of Bethel E Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon and church clerk for many years. Mr. Harper also served his country in the U.S. Army During WWII. “Uncle Frank” was a passionate gardener who received great joy in sharing his harvest with his family and many friends. He was also an avid bird hunter who loved raising and training bird dogs.

He is survived locally by sisters-in-law: Mary Jean H. Ginn and Elizabeth H. Hudson; nieces and nephews: Debra H. Robertson, Connie H. Andrews, Steve Higginbotham, Donnie Hudson, and Billy Hudson; as well as numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Frances Thurston, Charles Harper, Steve Harper, Ralph Harper, Carroll Harper, and Jack Harper.

Graveside services will be held for the family on Friday, April 24, at Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Adams, the Rev. Tim Savelle, and Mr. Shane Robertson officiating.

Steve Higginbotham, Shane Robertson, Brad Robertson, Owen "Buckshot" Robertson, Keith Andrews, Mark Higginbotham, Trey Andrews, Donnie Hudson, and Billy Hudson will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Harper will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home from 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m. on Thursday, April 23, for those wishing to pay their respects. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no public visitation.

Flowers will be accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
