Gail Mcveigh Drane

Ms. Cynthia Gail McVeigh Drane, 57, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling.

Ms. Drane was born in Valdosta, Georgia on April 12, 1960, daughter of Rev. Jack McVeigh and the late Willie Pauline Yawn McVeigh.

Ms. Drane resided in Elberton, GA for 34 years and worked as a registered nurse at Elbert Memorial Hospital before becoming a traveling nurse and practicing in California and New Mexico. In 2012 Ms. Drane was diagnosed with breast cancer and after a long battle she has finally found peace with the Lord. Ms. Drane was a member of Covenant Community Church in Wheeling, West Virginia and had unwavering faith in our savior Jesus Christ. Although her battle was hard she always remained hopeful and drew strength from her faith. Gail was strong, kind and a loving woman. Her smile and positive attitude was contagious. She cherished her family above all else and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her father: Rev. Jack McVeigh; sister: Ethel Hitt; brother: Roy McVeigh; daughter: Brooke Drane; son and daughter-in-law: Christopher and Hope Drane; grandchildren: Terence, Trey and Tierra Brawner, Kelsey, Alyssa, Miracle and Anna Leigh Drane, Alexis Maxwell, and Skylar Brown.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Webb Bellew.



Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, March 28, at 3 o’clock at Falling Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Christopher Drane, John Hitt, Sr., John Hitt, Jr., Jonathan Black, Jason Nolan and Jimmy Booth, Sr. serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service 2-3PM at Falling Creek Baptist Church.
