Gail Mullinix Dodd

On the evening of April 10, 2016 Gail Mullinix Dodd passed away peacefully of natural causes. Gail was being visited and comforted by members of the immediate family at Pruitt Healthcare on Hawthorne in Athens, GA at the time of her passing. Gail was 73 years old.

Gail Mullinix Dodd was a longtime resident of Toccoa, GA and a member of Hillstreet Baptist Church. Until the closing of the business in 1994, she and her family were the proprietors of Mullinix Grocery and Service Station on East Currahee St. in Toccoa. She was devoted to her family, her many friends, and her community. Gail will be remembered by those who knew her best for her love of shopping, music, eating good food (but not necessarily cooking it), talking on the phone, networking countless business ventures, giving advice, and wearing sensible shoes (which she hated).

Gail was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Hillyer Mitchell Mullinix and Dorothy Westbrook Mullinix and by her younger brother, Kenneth Mitchell Mullinix. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Angela Dodd, her son-in-law Gregory Dodd of Athens, GA; a granddaughter, Robyn Dodd of Knoxville, TN; a niece, Dianne Mullinix and her son Aaron Mullinix of Roebuck, SC; a nephew, Kevin Mullinix, his wife Stephanie and daughter, Ava of Rock Hill, SC; and a cousin, Brenda W. (Lewis) Whiten of Toccoa, who was like a sister to her. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the family, friends, and neighbors who assisted Gail during her illness and the caring staff of Pruitt Healthcare on Hawthorne and Pruitt Hospice for their dedication to her care over the last several months. A private memorial service for immediate family members will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent in Gail's name to the Alzheimer's Association at http://alz.org.

A memorial page has been set up at the on-line memorial website Never-Gone.com for those who wish to offer condolences.

Arrangements were provided by Berry Funeral Home & Crematory in Elberton, GA.
