Mr. Talmadge Eugene “Gene” Bell, 84, of Ruckersville Road, Elberton, husband of 53 years to Mary Judith “Judy” Noell Bell, finished his course in faith on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Bell was born in Elbert County on March 10, 1934, son of the late George Alvin Bell and Lola Claire Ruff Bell. He retired as a missile technician from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service and a retired maintenance supervisor from AutoLite after 23 years of service. Mr. Bell was a former Commander and Adjutant Pulliam-Burton VFW Post 5456 where he was a lifetime member. He was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed building birdhouses.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tracy Bell of Elberton; grandchildren: Jeffery Bell, Quentin Bell, and Zachary Bell; siblings: Bud Bell, Lynn Bell, Sara Margaret Veal, Martha Ann Harden, Charlotte Johnson, Jerolyn Almond, and Patsy Suttles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Bell; and siblings: Horace, Howard, Douglas, Pete, Rick, Ruffin "Bill", and Mike Bell, and Maleen Godfrey.

A viewing and time of visitation with the family will be held at Berry Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, between the hours of 2:00p.m. and 4:00p.m. At other hours the family may be contacted at the residence.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
