Mr. Gregory Lee “Greg” Sanders, 53, of Calhoun Road, Dewy Rose, husband of Wanda Kay Sexton Sanders, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Greg was born in Hartwell on October 31, 1967, son of Shirley Jo Black Sanders of Hartwell and the late George Verdell Sanders. He was employed with Whitlow Electric as a Welder and was a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; mother, Shirley; daughter, Nikki Allen Hayes and her husband Marvin of Toccoa; stepchildren: BJ Crossley and his wife Crystal of Lavonia and Star Crossley of Athens; siblings: Donna Sanders of Hartwell, Dennis Sanders of Hartwell, and Jeff Sanders of Elberton; grandchildren: Kinsley Allen, Ryker Allen, CJ Allen, Gauge Crossley, Nevaeh McClung, Alehia Crossley, and Skylar Murray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services celebrating Greg’s life will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 11 o’clock at Dewy Rose Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Martin, Mr. Fred Greenway, and Ms. Kim Marie Johnson officiating.

Greg will be placed in the church to lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday, March 5.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
