Herbert Louis Callaway, 91, of 1557 Jaudon Road, Elberton, husband of Ilene Eavenson Callaway, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Callaway was born in Wilkes County, July 8, 1921, to the late Otis H. and Lillian Cunningham Callaway. He was a member of the Elberton First Baptist Church and a retired auto garage owner and operator. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ilene Eavenson Callaway of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Linda Callaway of Lancaster, SC, Michael and Peggy Callaway of Blairsville, GA, and Bryan and Jennifer Callaway of Elberton, GA; special caregiver, Jackie Smith; siblings, Jean Cromer of Anderson, SC, Ann McLanahan of Elberton, GA, Lillian Miller of Thomasville, NC, and Richard Callaway of Ellaville, GA; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, December 29, in the Elberton First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. Jamie Callaway and Gary Purvis. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00PM to lie instate until the service hour. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Allen Moore, Don Callaway, Jr., Kerry Callaway, Billy Neal, Greg Moon, Charlie Eavenson, Tommy Eavenson, and Bill Scott honored as pallbearers. The Callaway family is at the residence, 1557 Jaudon Road, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Friday evening.
