Imogene Segars Brown

Mrs. Imogene Segars Brown, 87, of Highway 72 W, Calhoun Falls, SC, wife of 58 years to the late Claude ‘Vernon’ Brown, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Harper’s Personal Care Home in Washington, GA.

Mrs. Brown was born in Hart County, GA on July 11, 1935, daughter of the late James Henry Segars and Lois Marie Lawrence Segars. She was employed in the textile industry all of her life, having worked as a Spinner at Rocky River Plant, as a Spinner at JP Stevens Plant, and retired as an inspector at Flexible Tubing. Imogene was an avid gardener who loved tending to her flowers, yard work, and cutting grass. Blessed with a green thumb, she often joked that she could bring a stump back to life. Granny was devoted to her family, and looked forward to celebrating Christmas each year. She was a member of Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jean Evans and her husband Preston of Tignall, GA; grandsons: Tony and Beverly Evans of Cookeville, TN, Chad and Kristina Evans of Iva, SC, and Brent Evans of Augusta, GA; great-grandchildren: Bree Plesko and Chase Plesko; siblings: Genell Powell of Elberton, GA, Linda Odell of Elberton, GA, and Roberta Segars of Wadley, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Barbara Jordan, Charles Segars, Grover Segars, and Douglas “Preacher” Segars.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home in Elberton, GA.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 12 noon from the graveside in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Abbeville, SC.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
