Isham Hugh Adams

Mr. Isham Hugh Adams, age 86, passed on to his Heavenly home on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Piedmont Hospital, Athens.

He was born in Elbert County on August 19, 1935, son of the late Arthur Hugh Adams and Vivian Euphemia Gaines Adams. Hugh was a 1953 graduate of Elbert County High School and attended Southern Tech, and graduated from Forest College. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1962. Hugh retired as an equipment control technician with Milliken Company in 1998.

He was raised to a Master Mason in 1992 and proudly served as the District Deputy to the Grand Master for 10 years. Hugh was a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25 and a former member of the Scottish Rite and Shriner’s. He served as Worthy Patron for Rose M. Ashby Order of the Eastern Star #550 and of Order of the Eastern Star #537, and was a past Grand Representative to Maine. Hugh was a former member of Sons of the American Revolution and Elberton Sister City Committee.

He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and the Victory Sunday School Class, and was presently attending Elberton Christian Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Judith Ann Chandler Adams; daughters and their husbands: Lanie and Josh Radecki of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Tracy and Phil Snider of Warner Robins, and Amanda and Skeeter Seymour of Dewy Rose; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Richard Adams, Sr. and Ann Gully Franklin.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 3, at 2 o’clock at Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Rick Cox officiating.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25 or to the Rose M. Ashby Order of the Eastern Star #550.
