J. Albert Madden, Sr.

John 'Albert' Madden, Sr., 90, of 1002 Sam Paul Road, Elberton, husband of 74 years to Marjorie Louise Ferguson Madden, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Madden was born in Elbert County, December 20, 1922, to the late John Waco and Effie McKelley Madden. He was a retired stone cutter, farmer, and a member and deacon of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Ferguson Madden; sons and daughters-in-law, John A., Jr. and Joyce Madden, Marion Jerry and Linda Madden, and William Terry and Marsha Madden, all of Elberton; brother, Paul Madden of Cumming; grandchildren, Jeremy Madden, Heather Padilla, Michael Madden, Riley Madden, and Jennifer Madden; great-grandchildren, Emily Krolikowski, Bonnie Greer Madden, Ella Grace Madden, Davis Madden, Carolina McKelley Madden, Brooklyn Meadow Madden, Ethan Riley Madden, Robert Benjamin Padilla; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson, Nicholas Madden; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, January 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Connie Ivester and Ken Thrift officiating. Interment will follow in the Carlton City Cemetery. The family is at the residence, 1002 Sam Paul Road, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00PM Sunday afternoon.
