James Cooper Hilley, Sr.

Mr. James Cooper Hilley, Sr., 85, of E. Savannah Street, Calhoun Falls, SC, husband of 62 years to Connie Powell Hilley, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Mr. Hilley was born in Elbert County, GA on May 5, 1931, son of the late Henry Cooper Hilley and Ruth Waters Hilley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, attended First Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls, and was retired from Rocky River Mill.

In addition to his wife Connie, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Yvonne and Roger Hobbs, James Hilley, Jr., Kenny and Diane Hilley, Debbie and Michael Botts, and Donald Ray Hilley, sister, Mary and Charles Gosnell; special niece, Dianne Spears; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Colby Ray Hilley; and siblings: Corrine Bridges, Irene Bridges, and Rayford Hilley.

The memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, November 6, at 1:30p.m. at the residence on E. Savannah Street in Calhoun Falls with the Rev. Scott Burnshauser officiating. Inurnment will be in Latimer Cemetery.

The family is at the residence where they will receive friends.
