James Gray Hendrix, Sr.

James "Jack" Gray Hendrix Sr., 83, of 141 South Thomas Street, Elberton, Georgia passed away Wednesday March 28, 2012 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Born in Dekalb County, January 1, 1929 to the late Steve Hendrix and Lois Irene Mitchell Hendrix. He was a member of the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Left to cherish his memories are his children Melanie Hendrix of Adairsville, Georgia; Kate Augustine of St. Petersburg, Florida; James G. Hendrix Jr. of Elberton, Georgia; and Jim W. Hendrix of Danielsville, Georgia; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Charlotte Ann Hendrix and his sisters and brothers. The Hendrix family will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday night March 30, 2012 at Berry Funeral Home. Following the visitation Mr. Hendrix's wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
