James "Hambone" Segars

Mr. James "Hambone" Alvin Segars, 80, of Childs Ave., Elberton, GA passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Anmed Hospital.

Mr. Segars was born in Hart County, GA October 4, 1937 to Ella Reed Segars. He was of the Holiness Faith and was a retired sandblaster in the granite industry.

He is survived by his wife: Lucy Davis Segars; son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Brenda Segars of Elberton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Alice and Buddy Allen of Hartwell, GA, Marilyn and Marlow Brown of Elberton, GA; five grandchildren and their spouses: Kristi and Anthony Maughon, Kimberly and Pernell Martin, Taylor Segars, Renae Brown, Holly Segars; and a great-granddaughter: Ashlyn Segars.

Funeral services to celebrate Hambone's life will be held 2PM, Tuesday, February 20 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Segars officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Buck Segars, Pernell Martin, Jerry Wicker, Pierce Mize, Mike Seymour and Anthony Maughon serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hunt and Sam Hill.

The family is at the home on Childs Ave. and will receive friends from 6-8PM Monday night at Berry Funeral Home.
