James Hoyt Moon, Jr.

James Hoyt Moon, Jr. aka “Pookie” was born February 9, 1957. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School.

James was preceded in death by his mother Gracie Mae Rucker, father James Sr., sister Gwen Barbara and brother Joe James Rucker. He was a member of St. Mary C.M.E. Church.

The angels of mercy called him home on March 2, 2022. Pookie worked many years for Wayne Farms. Pookie was named the Woop Woop Man the baddest DJ around Elberton back in the days.

Pookie was a loving kind hearted person. He was a babysitter, stepdad, uncle, brother and a friend.

He leaves to cherish one sister Theresa (Freddie) Smith of Atlanta, GA; two brothers: Jerry Rucker of Elberton, GA, George (Gaydene) Rucker of Athens, GA, step-daughter Tasha McCord; four aunts: Marian Meekins and Julia Collins of Brooklyn, NY and Geralene Harper and Jessie Johnson of Clewiston, FL; three uncles; Rufus (Patrica) Jones of Elberton, GA, Riley Denson Lewis and Joe Henry Lewis of Clewiston, FL, a special friend Peggy Teasley, his ride or die partner uncle Punk and Matthew of Athens, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services to celebrate Pookie’s life will be held 2PM, Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Hall Grove Baptist Church.
