James "Jimmy" Clarence Farmer

James Clarence "Jimmy" Farmer, 67, of 1106 Grady Cleveland Road, Elberton, husband of Jane Davis Farmer, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Quiet Oaks Healthcare Center in Crawford. Mr. Farmer was born in Savannah, Georgia, January 9, 1945, to the late Robert Waite Farmer, Sr. and Pearl Rampey Farmer. He was a retired correctional officer for Athens-Clarke County and a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Elbert County Historical Society, and Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25. Mr. Farmer was a U.S. Army Veteran. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 46 years, Jane Davis Farmer, whom he married July 3, 1966; nephews, Jim Farmer and his wife, Mary and Robert W. "Bob" Farmer, III and his wife, Lynda; six great-nieces and one great-nephew; and cousins, Len Farmer and Travis Farmer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Waite, Jr. and Marion Anne Herndon Farmer. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM Thursday, August 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Quarrells, Mr. Tommy Fields, and Mr. Bob Farmer officiating. At Mr. Farmer's request, his body will be cremated following the service. The family is at the residence, 1106 Grady Cleveland Road, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Wednesday evening.
