James Miles Reece

Mr. James Miles "Jim" Reece, 79, of Hulmes Chapel Road, Elberton, finished his course in faith on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at his residence. Jim was twice married, first to the late Earlie Mae "Jean" Long Reece for 43 years and second to Mary Ann Washington Reece for 8 years. Mr. Reece was born in Dawsonville, Georgia on August 10, 1934, to the late Boyd Reece and Ella Mae Cantrell Reece. He was retired from the construction industry and was a member of Middleton United Methodist Church and the International Union of Operating Engineers. Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, he leaves to cherish his memories three children and their spouses, Regina and Lee Oliver of Ocoee, Florida, Debra and Roger Steele of Ocoee, Florida, and Mike and Lori Reece of Elberton; step-children, JoAnn Scott, Bobby Scott, Thomas Scott, all of Graniteville, South Carolina, and Bill Scott of North Augusta, South Carolina; siblings, B.R. Reece, Dean Reece, and Betty White; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he is preceded in death by siblings, Wayne Reece and Leslie Reece. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 24, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Allen Quarrells and Sharon Coley officiating. Interment will follow in the Middleton United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family is at the residence on Hulmes Chapel Road and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday evening and from 1:00-1:45p.m. on Friday afternoon.
