Janie Christine Davis Gierke

Ms. Janie ‘Christine’ Davis Gierke, 67, of Elberton, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital following a five week battle with cancer.

Christine was born in Elberton on November 27, 1955, the oldest child of the late George Clark Davis, Sr. and Jeanette Christine Wilder Davis. She was a graduate of Elbert County High School. She worked at Eaves Packaging for many years and later retired as a jailor from the Elbert County Detention Center. Christine loved collecting knick-knacks, especially ink pens, and enjoyed spending time in Helen. She loved her family above all and especially enjoyed working in her word find books.

Survivors include her son, Christopher Gierke and his wife Katy of Elberton; siblings: Janice and Henry Hammond of Bowman, Clark and Peggy Davis of Elberton, and Gene and Jackie Davis of Carnesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Monday, March 27, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Christine’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating.
