July 7, 1932 — December 21, 2018

Jean Mcintosh Duncan

Jean McIntosh Duncan, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, December 21, 2018, (11:35 pm) with her daughter by her side at Elbert Memorial Hospital, where "wonderful angels" helped make her final days comfortable.

For the last 29 years she lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Jeff and Sandy Adams. Jean was 86, born on July 7, 1932.

A native of Elbert County, Jean was granddaughter of the late Gordon Sam McIntosh and Mary Lees McIntosh (Edinburg, Scotland) and Alfred Richard Eaves and Eurie Osley “Mamie” Eaves (Bowman), and the daughter of the late Gordon George McIntosh, Sr. and Willie Ruth Eaves McIntosh (Elberton). She was a devoted homemaker while her children were in school and owner of Colvard’s Florist which she converted into Love Unlimited Bookstore. She enjoyed daily Bible study, looking at family photos and listening to her family sing, watching Atlanta Braves games and old family movies, and gardening each of her beautiful flower beds.

Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandy and Jeff Adams, of Elberton and John and Sandra Duncan, of Alabama; three grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Duncan, of Marietta, Jennifer and Steffon Barnett, of Athens, and Ashley and Michael Wang, of New Orleans; seven great grandchildren all of whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her sister Joy Brown and brother Gordon (and Caroline) McIntosh, of Elberton and Sandy’s mother-in-law, Mary Jane Adams, who moved in with Jeff and Sandy from Colorado a few years ago.

Honoring Jean's wishes to have, and to attend, her own private service in her hospital room with her immediate family, they sang numerous hymns including "It Is Well With My Soul" and spent special moments peaking into heaven with her as she prayed blessings for each of her children and grandchildren.
