Jean Rice Seymour, 74, formerly of Highland Drive, Elberton, wife of Fred Kenneth Seymour, passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2012, at Spring Valley Health Care Center. Mrs. Seymour was born in Hart County, June 15, 1937, daughter of the late R.C. and Annie Ruth Brown Rice. Mrs. Seymour was a secretary for Woodrow Lavender after high school, she then went on to work for Granite Sales and Supply for 35 years where she retired, after her retirement she went to work part-time for Saxon Hardware for 7 years. She was a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was the Little League Auxiliary BBQ Ticket Sales Champion. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 56 years, Fred Kenneth Seymour of Spring Valley Health Care Center; daughter and son-in-law, Freda Renee Seymour and Butch Dudley of Lexington, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Gene and Lynn Hagwood Seymour of Loganville, Georgia; one sister, Joyce Chastain of Elberton; and three brothers and their spouses, Ralph and Barbara Lester Rice of Bowman, Georgia, Billy and Pat Rice of Elberton, Georgia, and Kenny Rice of Bowman, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Andrew David Seymour and Abigail Brooke Seymour. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Beth Anderson and Alice Dye. A Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, February 16, at 3PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Martin and Brannon Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman, Georgia with Brannon Rice, Randy Rice, Scott Gunter, Phil Rice, Eddie Higginbotham, Kenyon Rice, and Clark Dye serving as pallbearers. The Seymour family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 2-3PM Thursday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
