Jerry "Mudman" Thomas Hayes

Jerry Thomas "Mudman" Hayes, 65, of Mudman Road, Hartwell, husband of the late Connie Lynn Bowen Hayes, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Mr. Hayes was born in Elbert County, December 29, 1947, to the late Albert and Laura Vernell Crook Hayes. He was a retired drywall finisher, member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, member of Trout Unlimited, and member of Ducks Unlimited. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Jerry T. Hayes, Jr. and his wife Christina of Athens, Robert G. Hayes of Hartwell, and Angie H. McLane and her husband David of Hartwell; brothers, James Hayes of Hartwell, Wayne Hayes of Lavonia, Bobby Hayes of Lavonia; sisters, Elizabeth "Liz" Mathis of Cumming, and Nell Fleming of Martin; five grandchildren, Avia N. Hayes, Basia R. Hayes, John-Thomas D. McLane, Savannah K. McLane, and Meagan L. Barnes. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00a.m. Monday, July 8, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Little officiating. Interment will follow in Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Kevin Thompson, Jimmy Miller, Brian Thompson, Ronald Kelly, Dale Kelley, and A.J. Kelley honored as pallbearers. The Hayes family is at the home of David and Angie McLane, 980 Mt. Hebron Road, Hartwell, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. Sunday evening.
