Mrs. Jewell Saxon Clamp, 92, of Brady Drive, formerly of East Tate Street, Elberton, wife of the late James C. Clamp, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Clamp was born in Hart County on April 4, 1922, to the late Louis Richard and Rona Bell Hall Saxon. She was a homemaker, caretaker, and operated the Granite City King Burger of many years. Mrs. Clamp was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Frank Herndon of Elberton; two grandsons and their wives: Chris and Rebekah Herndon of Elberton and Raymond and Candice Herndon of Roswell; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Haley, Colin, Bryce, and Brady Herndon; siblings: Ellis Saxon and his wife Elda of Orlando, FL, Ruth Gilliam of Lilburn, and Mae Rampey and her husband Rawsom of Elberton; brother-in-law, Charlie Clamp and his wife Carolyn of Elberton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 12:00noon until the service hour on Wednesday afternoon. Casual attire is requested by the family. Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to Friends Helping Friends, ℅ Elbert County High School, 600 Abernathy Circle, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
