Mrs Joann South Hays of Bogart, Ga, (formerly of Stockton Walk, Snellville) went to be with the Lord, and join her late husband Jean Edward Hays, on Monday, May 15, 2017. Her peaceful passing was at her home on Wilhayven Farm, Bogart, Ga, surrounded by loved ones.

Joann was born December 18, 1929 in Toccoa, Ga to L.C. South and Ella Mae Edwards South. She graduated from Marietta High School where she was on the basketball team and chorus. She was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church where she taught herself piano and sang in the choir. Joann enjoyed several careers as a Air Force Military wife, The Marietta Daily Journal, and Blackstocks, Inc, where she retired from. Joann's hobbies were bowling, traveling with Senior Friends in Snellville, serving on the Home Owners Board of Stockton walk, line dancing, cooking, day trips to casinos where she loved the penny slot machines , dinner with the Gadabouts, playing Skip Bo and Canasta, and most of all being Grandma and GiGi. The Grans and Great Grans held a very special place in her heart.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Hays Nealey Wilborn and son in law Greg Wilborn, of Bogart, Ga.; and Grandchildren Christy and T.J. Recinella, Kelly and Nick Greene, Blake and Mary Katherine Nealey, Clifton Nealey, Grant and Jennifer Nealey, and Caroline Nealey; and seven Great Grandchildren Sophie, Jayden, Brooks, Mackenzie, Hudson, Logan and Tanner.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joann is preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Hays Golden and son in law Don Golden, and brothers Charles South and sister in law Mae South, and Coy South and sister in law Betty South.

A private celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 11a.m. - 2 p.m. at Wilhayven Farm in Bogart, Georgia. Immediately following the service will be lunch, music and memories .
