John Albert Madden, Jr.

Mr. John Albert Madden, Jr., better known as “Junior” or “Pig”, died peacefully at home in Elberton while surrounded by his family on Monday, December 19, 2016. He was 71.

Born in Elbert County on May 26, 1945, he was the oldest son of the late John Albert Madden, Sr. and Marjorie Louise Furgerson Madden. He was a truck driver having worked at Star Granite Company and a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Fitts Madden of the home; children: Jennifer Madden Dyar and her husband Tim and Michael Madden and his wife Jamie, all of Elberton; grandson, Luke Timothy Dyar; brothers and their wives: Jerry and Linda Madden and Terry and Marsha Madden, all of Elberton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, December 22, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Thrift officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
