Johnny Fortson Webb, 80, of Forest Avenue, Elberton, husband of 46 years to the late Jane Elizabeth Guest Webb, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville following a brief and courageous illness.

Mr. Webb was born in Elberton on July 28, 1939, son of the late Dalton William Webb and Mary Thomas Fortson Webb. He was a member of Doves Creek Baptist Church and a salesman having worked in the granite industry. Johnny was a life long resident of Elberton and was extremely proud of his Sweet City heritage.

Survivors include his sister, Linda Webb Banks of Elberton; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he held very dear to his heart.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: William Thomas Webb, Mary Hazel Webb Almond, Byron Neil Webb, Wendell Maurice Webb, Sidney Lowell Webb, Walter Chester Webb, and Jesse Bailey Webb.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a public memorial service will be planned in the near future. Those details will be announced as soon as they become available.

A private family graveside service was held for the immediate family in Elmhurst Cemetery on Sunday, March 22, with the Revs. Raymond Scott and Dylan Joiner officiating.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Doves Creep Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1971 Athens Highway, Elberton, GA 30635.
