Joseph Harlan Berryman

Born December 16, 1934, Joseph Harlan Berryman, 81, of Cataula, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Algood Berryman, father, Joseph Welthey Berryman and sister, Maxine McMurray.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Turner Berryman; daughter, Bridget Berryman of Cataula, Georgia; son, Joseph Allen Berryman (Jennifer) of Houston, Texas; granddaughters: Stephanie Berryman of New Braunfels, Texas and Chelsey Velo (Zack) of Austin, Texas; sisters: Marilyn and Charles Heard and Beth and Alan Vaughter, both of Elberton, Georgia; sister, Joy and John Jordan of Royston, Georgia; brothers: Faine and Betty Berryman and Wendall and Patti Berryman, both of Elberton, Georgia; brother-in-law, Robert McMurray of Lavonia, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to mention.

Mr. Berryman was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Mark Walker Sunday school class. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family completely and always put their needs ahead of his own. His life was a testament to the power of integrity, friendliness towards others, hard work, and service to the Lord. His gentleness of spirit and kindness of heart touched all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.

Visitation at Striffler-Hamby on Macon Road in Columbus on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. with service following at 3 p.m. Burial at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21st in Elberton, Georgia at Forest Hills Memorial Park cemetery.
